Community Leaders' Co
nference

Okay today I did some voluntary work at a huge event called the Community Leader's Conference. There were many Grassroots Leaders coming for this event. It was a big event with reporters from Straits Time and radio station 93.8 LIVE. The Guest Of Honour was Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

This event was held at Woodlands Civic Centre, Library, the building behind Causeway Point. I was down there the whole day from eleven am to six pm. My job was to usher guests to their seats. There were other volunteers as well and I made friends with them yeah.

The conference was about New Media and the launching of Onepeople.sg portal. It is about how media and technology can affect a community whether in a good or bad way. They discussed and shared issues about blogs, social networking sites and online file sharing sites. How these application can act as a platform for Singapore to engage youths and older generations together. Dr Vivian speech was absolutely neat. The presentation of another guest speaker Dr Rivera, NUS Infocomm & Media Professor, was solid. She shared about her slides on the good and bad of media and internet, in general.

Above: My volunteer tag. Where as below is
a picture of Dr Vivian with me and volunteers
[who are nineteen year-old graduates of Yishun
Junior College.] They are damn funny.

Volunteer Group Photo. The ex-YJC students
are damn funny and easy-going. We played
this crappy game which I do not know how to
explain. It was super fun lah.

Elise & Hui Ying, both my Campteen
friends and volunteers too.

The guests checking out the media booths
about Facebook, Blogger, Youtube and
the Onepeople.sg portal.

Oh and this is my 'token' of
volunteering. Paper clip magnets.

Overall today I had fun and definitely enjoyed myself with
the rest of the volunteers. Oh and I skipped gamelan
practice coz of this, sorry ppl.

Oh and yesterday was the Student Council Investiture
and Nik's 'favourite' song played twice - A Thousand Miles
by Vanessa Carlton. Wth. When the song was played me
& Fir could not stop laughing. It was too damn funny. Nik was
like 'wtf'.

Irna & Hazirah was smoking hott with their blazers. Too
bad Irfan could not make it. He had a hockey match to lose
with. Lol. So how's the match? Did you ppl win?

that's all people
